Choral Union
The University of Indianapolis Choral Union is an ensemble made up of UIndy students, alumni, faculty, and staff led by University of Indianapolis Director of Choral Activities Dr. Paul Krasnovsky. The idea for this ensemble grew from the success of the University of Indianapolis Centennial Celebration Chorus. Our Choral Union fulfills several important missions.
- It periodically serves as an ensemble to be combined with other
UIndy ensembles to create a large choir capable of performing
major choral works. In 2007 Choral Union and Concert Choir combined for a performance of the Missa Brevis by Zoltán Kodály.
In 2006 these groups, along with a professional orchestra, performed a program that included the Solemn Vespers of the Confessor by Mozart.
- Choral Union serves as a major source for participants in UIndy
sponsored overseas concert tours, such as our just completed
concert tour to China (June, 2007) and our upcoming concert tour
to Greece (June, 2009).
- When not engaged in the above activities, Choral Union serves as a laboratory chorus for our Music Department’s Advanced Choral Conducting students.
During the 2007-08 academic year Choral Union will function as a laboratory chorus for our Music Department’s Advanced Choral Conducting students.
Membership in Choral Union is by audition and college credit is available. This college credit will count towards fulfillment of the fine arts requirement.
