University of Indianapolis Festival Chorale European Concert Tour June 2010
A Balkan Discovery — from Belgrade to the Adriatic
with Dr. Paul Krasnovsky, UIndy Director of Choral Activities
and Dr. Marko Petricic, UIndy Organist and Director of Church Music
June 3 - 14, 2010.
We'll be traveling to some of Europe's most beautiful and fastest growing tourist destinations; and we'll be sharing each of our performances with local choirs in the places we visit.
We’ll begin in Belgrade, the second largest city on the Danube and the capital of Serbia. Belgrade is a city of close to two million and is the hometown of UIndy’s Dr. Marko Petricic. From Belgrade we’ll travel to Sarajevo, the host city for the 1984 Winter Olympics and capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina; then on to Dubrovnik, Croatia (known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic") and the ancient city of Kotor in Montenegro (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). For our last night, we’ll fly to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia and spend our final evening in it’s charming medieval city center before catching our Air France flight back to the States.
Our UIndy Festival Chorale will be made up of students from our choirs, members of our Choral Union, faculty, staff, alums and community members. Non-singers are also welcome and we encourage our singers' friends and family members to join us for the fun.
College credit is available and for UIndy students, participation in this trip will fulfill the spring term requirement.
