A Balkan Discovery — from Belgrade to the Adriatic
With Paul Krasnovsky and Marko Petricic
Tentative Dates: June 3 - June 13, 2010
NOTE: The official itinerary and final cost of the trip are still being prepared and will be posted at this address when ready. Our projected cost for the trip is $2,499.
We'll be visiting some of Europe's most beautiful and fastest growing tourist destinations with stops in Dubrovnik, Croatia (known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic"); the ancient city of Kotor, Montenegro (a UNESCO World Heritage Site); Sarajevo, the host city for the 1984 Winter Olympics and capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Belgrade, the second largest city on the Danube and the capital of Serbia. Belgrade is a city of close to two million and is the hometown of UIndy's very own Marko Petricic. Marko will be traveling and performing with us and serving as our own personal host and tour guide.
Our UIndy Festival Chorale, led by Dr. Paul Krasnovsky with Dr.Marko Petricic, will be made up of students from our choirs, members of our Choral Union, faculty, staff, alums and community members. Non-singers are also welcome and we encourage our singers' friends and family members to join us for the fun.
As with all of our Festival Chorale concert tours, we'll be sharing our performances with local choirs from each of the countries that we visit who, like all of us, love nothing more than making new friends from far off, exotic places (like Greenwood, IN!).
We'll be working on the music to be sung on our tour throughout the year in our UIndy Choral Ensembles and much of it will be performed at our Spring concert on April 25; but we'll also create a schedule of rehearsals and orientation sessions in May that will guarantee that we'll be prepared for a musically satisfying experience. If you live out of town and want to sing we'll send you practice CDs and the scores. You can join us for our final rehearsals before departure and still be a full-fledged member of our chorale.
Graduate and undergraduate college credit is available. For UIndy students, participation in this trip will fulfill the spring term requirement.
Join us for this exciting opportunity and don't hesitate to contact me at krasnovsky@uindy.edu with any questions you might have .
