Expectations of Membership
The University of Indianapolis Choral Union is a community chorus made up of singers with all levels of ability. Some of us have very little formal musical training while others have advanced degrees and enjoy careers in the field of music. All singers are welcome in our Choral Union no matter what the level of their training or experience.
The one common value that unites us, in addition to our love of music and singing, is that while we may not all be professionals by virtue of training, we are all professionals by virtue of the attitude and commitment that we bring to the process of making music together.
Members of the Choral Union agree that we should attend all rehearsals and be on time ( . . . with the understanding that circumstances beyond our control can, on occasion, develop). If absences do become an issue, a singer will be asked to make a self-evaluation to determine whether he or she should participate in that upcoming concert. In addition, these singers will be invited to demonstrate their level of preparedness to the music director.
Members of the Choral Union are currently in the process of creating a membership handbook to more fully explore the expectations of membership. When completed the handbook will be posted on our webpage.
