Royal American Conservatory Examinations (RACE)
The Community Music Center has joined with the RACE program to be a certified site. Many CMC piano teachers incorporate the RACE curriculum in their studios. This standardized repertoire and theory program is recognized both nationally and internationally. Visit Royal American Conservatory for more information.
Lessons by senior and student faculty are offered in piano, voice, guitar (classical and folk), and most orchestral and band instruments. Lessons are arranged at a time convenient for teacher and student. Register for Private Lessons.
The Vocal Arts Institute is a summer intensive program held on the University campus. Study is open to entering high school freshmen through entering college freshmen. School year vocal lessons at various high schools are available with VAI faculty in a ten week semester. Register for Vocal Arts Institute.
Music Together® is a preschool music class for parents and children (from birth to age 5). Classes include singing, games, movement, and rhythm instruments using a multi-cultural curriculum developed by early childhood music experts and taught by a certified instructor. Discounts are available for more than one child in the same family. Classes meet Saturday at 9 a.m. or Mondays at 5 p.m. View more information about the program at www.musictogether.com.
The musicianship curriculum includes aural and written theory along with music movement and is recommended for all students who take private lessons. Students will be assessed for classes according to a placement exam. Classes begin September 9. Musicianship I - Rudiments will meet Saturdays at 9 a.m. and Musicianship II - Harmony, Theory, and History will meet Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

The seminar will be held Wednesday nights, 7 to 9 p.m., beginning 1/9/2008, with the final session meeting 3/5/2008. The seminar is led by Harry Miedema, Director of Jazz Studies at UIndy.
The summer Chamber Music Institute is an opportunity for advanced instrumentalists to study and perform chamber works with professional musicians. Brochures will be available early 2008.
Coordinated by Rebecca Sorley and Jacklyn Chan, the fourteenth annual Summer Piano Camp will be held in June 2008. Brochures will be available in early 2008. Camp includes private and group lessons, music appreciation and theory classes, ensemble playing, masterclass, and a recital.
