David Bellman is in his 26th season as Principal Clarinet of the Indianapolis Symphony
Orchestra. Bellman studied at Northwestern University and the Eastman School of Music, where the faculty voted him the
prestigious Performer's Certificate. A devoted chamber music performer, he participated in the renowned Marlboro Festival
in Vermont and is cofounder of the Ronen Chamber Ensemble, presenting annually a series of four concerts at the Circle
Theatre Wood Room. With the Ronen Ensemble, he has commissioned and premiered works of Michael Schelle, David Baker,
James Ure, James Aikman, and others. He has performed concertos of Mozart and Copland with the ISO and he has also
appeared as soloist with the orchestras of Lafayette and Terre Haute. In addition to teaching at the University of
Indianapolis, Bellman has served as a visiting professor at Indiana University, Ball State University, and DePauw
University.
