Peter Hansen began playing the string bass while a junior high school student in Kenosha, Wisconsin after first experimenting with the piano, violin, guitar and flute. He moved to the Chicago area in 1976 and immediately began playing both classical and jazz gigs. Peter has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Grant Park Symphony, and the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. He is active as a composer and jazz bassist and performs numerous educational concerts every year. Peter joined the University of Indianapolis music faculty in 1995.
