Philip Palermo
Philip Palermo is currently Associate Concertmaster of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Resident Violinist at the University of Indianapolis. Recipient of the Kosciuszko Foundation and Wieniawski Violin Competition Awards, he has appeared as soloist with the Chicago, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Houston, and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestras. In addition to Vivaldi, Mozart, Bruch, and Tchaikovsky concertos with the ISO, he has performed concerto and chamber repertoire at the Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego. Locally he has been heard with the Ronen Chamber Ensemble, the Canale Quartet, and Springmill Quartet. Palermo studied with Franco Gulli at Indiana University and with Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School, where he won the prestigious Fritz Kreisler Memorial Award.
