Sharon Parr
Sharon Parr has been a member of the music faculty at the University of Indianapolis
since 1985. She teaches piano, music history and literature, keyboard skills and serves as Director of the Secondary
Keyboard program. She also teaches an interrelated arts course for the Honors College. She has performed solo piano
recitals in England, France and multiple states across the continental United States plus Hawaii. Past ensemble
experience includes concerto performance with the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra and travel throughout the Midwest
with a piano trio funded by the Indiana Arts Commission. Before coming to the University of Indianapolis, she
frequently played the violin with a string trio and various community orchestras. Currently, Dr. Parr performs
chamber music as a member of Molto Piano, a trio of pianists which includes University of Indianapolis faculty
colleagues Jacklyn Chan and Rebecca Sorley. From 1978 to 1982 and again from 1988 to 1998, Dr. Parr was a member
of the piano faculty at Taylor University. Dr. Parr holds degrees in piano performance from Ball State University,
Indiana University and Taylor University where she also completed degree requirements for music education in choral
music. Her principal piano teachers include Pia Sebastiani, Marion Hall, Frederick Baldwin and Bomar Cramer.
