Pete Schmutte
Assistant
Professor,
is a composer and arranger who has written for a variety
of musical genre since settling in Indianapolis 25 years
ago. He has composed for a diverse list of clients ranging
from American Airlines to the Cadillac Division of General
Motors. In 1987 Pete was commissioned by the city of Philadelphia
to compose a work in celebration of the inaugural presentation
of the Liberty Medal to recipient Lech Walesa. He currently
writes for Warner Bros. Publications and Shawnee Press
with over 75 of his works listed in their catalogs. Most
recently, he was commissioned to write a piece for the
opening ceremonies of the 2001 International Police and
Fire Games. At the University of Indianapolis, he is coordinator
of the Music Technology and Recording program and director
of Crimson Exrpress, the resident vocal jazz/pop ensemble.
Schmutte has degrees in theory form Indiana State University
and Southern Illinois University.
