Department of Music

Letter from the Chair

Welcome to the University of Indianapolis Music Department. You will discover an excitement about music here - an atmosphere of dynamic collaboration between faculty and students. The department engages an accomplished faculty widely recognized for their commitment and dedication to undergraduate teaching, and we continue to enjoy the benefits of a university-wide student/faculty ratio of 12 to 1.

The University of Indianapolis offers undergraduate degrees in music within a liberal arts context. In addition to courses of study in performance and music education, our department boasts an array of well-developed curricular offerings and concentrations in theory/composition, jazz studies, music technology, and musical theatre. All of our degree programs are fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. We are committed to training the complete musician, preparing our graduates for a lifelong dynamic learning process. Our comprehensive performance offerings include the acclaimed Faculty Artist Series, masterclass engagements with world class musicians, and numerous student performances. In addition, our students easily enjoy metropolitan musical experiences in the heart of Indianapolis, just ten minutes from campus.

I invite you to peruse our website and get to know our faculty and facilities. I also ask that you contact me with any questions you may have regarding our programs. On behalf of the faculty, I look forward to seeing you on campus.
